THE ACADEMY AWARDS MEMORY LANE!

SO IN HONOR OF THE 84TH ANNUAL ACADEMY AWARDS I WANTED TO TAKE A WALK DOWN MEMORY LANE AND HIGHLIGHT SOME OF THE ACTRESSES OF COLOR THAT WERE NOMINATED OR WHO WON.

I KNOW EVERYONE CAN'T FORGET MONIQUE WINNING BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS FOR PRECIOUS. THE VIDEO BELOW SHOWS AN INTERVIEW WITH THE CAST AND OPRAH WINFREY WHO WAS THE EXECUTIVE PRODUCER.



Check out Hattie McDaniel's emotional acceptance speech for "Gone With the Wind." She's the first black actor to win an Academy Award.



Here is Halle Berry's acceptance speech for winning Best Female Performance in a Leading Role in 2002 for the Dorothy Dandridge movie. She is the first black woman awarded in this category.



Salma Hayek received a nomination for best actress for her role in the film Frida based on Frida Kahlo's life. Check out a clip from Frida.
